Proximus extends cooperation with Flanders Classics and the Proximus Cycling Challenge

23/02/2017

Proximus has been a top sponsor of Flanders Classics and the Proximus Cycling Challenge since the start of 2014. After three successful years, Proximus, ever loyal to cycling fans, has extended this cooperation!

In recent years, Proximus has positioned itself close to the race (#DichtbijDeKoers) by sponsoring Flemish cycling classics and a series of tours for cycling enthusiasts.

Flemish cycling classics

Proximus and KBC will continue to be the top sponsors of Flanders Classics. As in previous seasons, this series of six spring classics will officially kick off during the 72nd edition of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in Ghent on Saturday 25 February. Together with Flanders Classics, Proximus will offer a unique experience of the opening weekend. The presentation of the teams will be streamed live on the Proximus Facebook page. After all, Proximus brings its customers closer to what really matters to them.

The highlight of the cycling classics, the Tour of Flanders (or "Flanders' finest ") will be held on Sunday 2 April. Also during this Tour, Proximus will offer a unique customer experience on and off the course.

The four other prestigious Flemish spring tours on the agenda are Dwars Door Vlaanderen, Gent-Wevelgem, Scheldeprijs Schoten, and Brabantse Pijl.

Proximus Cycling Challenge

Proximus also supports the amateur cycling circuit. This year, the Proximus Cycling Challenge will be held for the 4th time, between February and October, The Proximus Cycling Challenge offers 15 cycling tours for cycling fans along the most scenic routes of the country. Its successful formula will be maintained this season, with extensive provisioning, well-marked courses, technical assistance en route, and lots of extras, such as a bike wash and photo animation.

Two new races will also make their debut: the Danilith Nokere Koerse on Sunday 12 March, and the Kwaremont Sluitingsprijs on Sunday 24 September.

The first race, Omloop het Nieuwsblad, on Sunday 26 February, forms the second part of the opening weekend in Ghent. Cycling fans of the tours will be rewarded after their race with a live broadcast by Studio Sport featuring Stijn Vlaeminck (Studio Brussel).
