Proximus TV launches Stingray Hits, a brand new music video channel combining local and international artists

21/02/2018

Proximus has reached an agreement with Stingray Digital Group Inc., a world-leading provider of multiplatform music services and digital experiences for pay TV operators, to launch a brand new music channel on the Belgian market. Proximus and Stingray, a Canadian company which has clients in 156 countries and more than 400 million households enjoying its services every day, announce today the launch of Stingray Hits, a music video television channel dedicated to the best pop, pop-rock and dance hits.

As from tomorrow, February 22nd, Proximus TV’s 1,5 million subscribers will be the only ones in Belgium and the first in the world to discover Stingray Hits, a brand new music video channel. Stingray Hits will offer a curated programming of music videos from today’s hottest local and international stars, including artists like Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Emma Bale, Fréro Delavega, Kendji Girac, Black M, Indila, Maître Gims, Adele, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Calvin Harris, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and more. These chart-topping music videos will be combined with a dose of all-time most requested music videos of the past 20 years.

The content of Stingray Hits will come from all major labels and a majority of independents, with around 30% of local content and 70% of international content. The channel will be included in the basic Proximus TV package and offered in two versions: Dutch (channel 170) and French (channel 171).

Stingray: a strong music partner for Proximus

The launch of Stingray Hits is only the first step of the partnership announced today by the two companies and fully fits Proximus’ goal of offering its customers what they are looking for. By benefiting from Stingray’s worldwide expertise, Proximus will be able to surprise and delight music fans. Through the two Stingray Hits channels (the Dutch one and the French one), Proximus will also be looking into ways to activate and promote its music partnerships. On March 27th, for example, we will broadcast live from the AB the exclusive concert of “Clouseau 30 years” for Proximus TV customers on the Dutch channel of Stingray Hits.

Mathieu Péloquin, Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Communications of Stingray

Our goal at Stingray is to harness our love and knowledge of music to create services that are tailored to markets around the world. Stingray Hits is a channel that has been developed to reach the widest possible audience from teens and millennials to older adults who want to stay on trend. The premiere of Stingray Hits with Proximus in Belgium is the perfect showcase of our ability to localize content to local tastes, trends, and music scenes.
