DIGITALENT: ICT workshops increase chances for job seekers

12/06/2015

In April 2015, the Proximus Foundation launched the Digitalent project, a series of workshops aimed at immersing low-skilled unemployed young people in an ICT bath. With this initiative, the Proximus Foundation aims to increase the chances of low-skilled young people on the job market. This initiative fits in nicely with Proximus' social commitment that is based on three pillars: Education, Communities and Green.

The Proximus Foundation, together with the city of Antwerp and VDAB, organized a series of workshops in Antwerp. During eight weeks, 12 young people followed workshops aimed at stimulating their interest in the ICT world. The participants worked on their own ICT project during the training, related to 3D design & printing, programming or website development. In addition, they gained insight into entrepreneurship and learned how to apply for jobs.

On 12 June, the training was successfully concluded with a presentation of the ICT projects and the official diploma ceremony. The participants were handed their diplomas by Sabine Denis, Chair of the Proximus Foundation.

In September, the Proximus Foundation will organize new DIGITALENT workshops in Liège and Antwerp.
