Proximus gives developers access to its technologies

Today, Proximus is launching its new portal Proximus EnCo. The portal gives developers in Belgium and abroad easy access to the technologies of Proximus and its partners in order to create the solutions of tomorrow.

Agile structure

EnCo is a contraction of Enabling and Company. Proximus wants to help companies make the shift to digitization, to help startups develop, and to provide the necessary technologies to software vendors so that they can create new products. With EnCo, Proximus has a small, very agile structure for working with startups at their own pace.

A new way of co-creating

The world is moving towards an open digital economy driven by applications, ecosystems and communities. EnCo offers a new way of collaborating with the ecosystem of digital companies by giving developers in Belgium and abroad easy access to the technologies of Proximus and its partners, thereby promoting the rapid creation of new services.

Initially, EnCo will focus on complementary technologies such as the Internet of Things, the Cloud, Big Data and telecom services such as SMS.

Access to programming interfaces

Proximus provides access to these technologies via APIs, or programming interfaces. With APIs, you can build an original IT solution by adding different blocks of familiar technologies.

On a "Freemium" model, the user can subscribe free of charge to one or several APIs in order to prototype a solution. During the production phase, the user pays only for what he uses. EnCo users can also choose to sell or make available the solutions they develop to other users.

A few examples of APIs

  • The SeaaS (Sensor as a Service) API package allows you to integrate the Internet of Things into web or mobile applications.
  • The Cloud Channels API allows you to integrate several solutions with each other via the Cloud.
  • The Address Autocomplete API offers access to the database of Directory Information Services (1407, 1307, and 1207), which allows you to fill in online forms more quickly.
  • The SMS API allows you to send and receive SMS messages. This can be used in automated appointment reminder solutions, for example.

A new portal: "EnCo.io"

Proximus EnCo has created an online sales channel adapted to specific products, i.e. the APIs: the EnCo Market platform, which allows you to access the API catalog, subscribe to them or display them.

Then there’s the “EnCo DevPortal”, an environment in which developers can configure their APIs, gain access to all the documentation, and obtain personalized support.

EnCo will be at the Digital First event in Tour and Taxis from 20 October, and at the VR HAckathon Brussels at ICAB from 21 to 23 October.
