Proximus and Flanders Classics extending their partnership to 2025

After a spectacular spring, and just before the start of the cycling summer, Proximus is announcing the extension of its partnership with Flanders Classics up to 2025. By extending the collaboration, Proximus wishes to contribute actively to the further development of Belgian cycling in all respects. Thanks to the extension, Proximus customers can count on even more exclusive race content via Pickx in the future, as well as amazing experiences during the biggest cycle races in Belgium across various disciplines.

Since 2017, Proximus has been a loyal partner of Flanders Classics, the well-known umbrella organization behind, among others, the six prestigious Flemish spring classics for men and women (Tour of Flanders, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields, Dwars door Vlaanderen, Scheldeprijs and De Brabantse Pijl) and the official licensee for the season-long UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup competition. Flanders Classics is also co-organizer of the Continental Classics Tour, where cycling tourists get the chance to cover the same course as the cyclists.

The extension of the cooperation until 2025 goes beyond the Flemish spring classics. Proximus will become one of the major official partners of the "Flanders Gravel Series". With the organization of four gravel events in the summer months, Flanders Classics is further expanding this ever more popular cycling discipline in our country.

The Proximus Cycling Challenge, a series of recreational cycling tours throughout Belgium, will also continue until at least 2025. Together with We Ride, a joint venture of Golazo and Flanders Classics, Proximus is striving to enable as many recreational cyclists or trained cycling tourists as possible to experience the most beautiful cycling tours themselves.

Finally, Proximus will also support Flanders Classics in achieving their sustainability objectives. For example, both partners will investigate the possibility of deploying 5G technology in all competition productions by 2025.

A summer and autumn full of bicycle racing at Proximus Pickx

The enhanced collaboration with Flanders Classics is just one example of Proximus' passion for cycling. With the aim of developing a wide and varied range of content for cycling enthusiasts, Proximus is strengthening its cycling offer via Pickx with additional exclusive race content in various disciplines:

  • Via Pickx (TV, web and app), customers will soon be able to follow 4 European stage races live, with the Tour de Suisse (from June 11 to 18), the Tour of Poland (from July 29 to August 4), the Vuelta a Burgos (from August 15 to 19) and the Deutschland Tour (August 23 to 27). In addition to the live daily broadcasts, cycling fans will also be able to see highlights and exclusive reports of the Tour de Suisse during the "Musette" program.
  • Pickx.be provides the live streaming of local cycling races, such as GP Stad Halle, Muurclassic, Gooikse Pijl and GP Oetingen.
  • Proximus Pickx includes the spectacular mountain bike discipline "2023 UCI Eliminator World Cup" in its standard offer. Eliminator is the short sprint variation of mountain biking, run through the city center over a short 500 meter circuit with artificial obstacles. 5 European City Mountain Bike races (including races in Paris and Barcelona, as well as in Leuven and Oudenaarde) can be seen live and in full on Pickx.
  • Finally, Proximus is also a partner of the European/Belgian Gravel Bike Championship to be held in Oud-Heverlee on October 1. An ideal warm-up for the 2024 Gravel World Championships, which will also take place in our country.

We are particularly enthusiastic about strengthening our partnership with Flanders Classics. This will allow us to develop an even more varied cycling offer for our customers, whether they are passionate riders themselves or prefer to watch the pros at work. Moreover, our Pickx customers will also have a front-row seat for the possible return of Remco Evenepoel in the Tour de Suisse, or for Gianni Vermeersch’s quest for a European gravel racing medal, following his world title. In doing this, we are positioning Pickx as the platform where cycling fans can find all their favorite content in one place.

We are of course proud to announce the renewal of this partnership. Proximus and Flanders Classics have been working well together for years, it goes without saying that we are looking forward to 2024 and 2025. As loyal partners, we know each other through and through, allowing us to build on the future of cycling in Belgium with a shared vision. That creates mutual trust, which makes this cooperation so strong.
