Proximus Accelerators: a unique ICT environment in Belgium, created to support companies in their digital transformation

In the framework of its annual event on IoT & Analytics, ThinkThings, Proximus announced yesterday the official launch of Proximus Accelerators. Through this collaborative partnership, which brings together the wide-ranging expertise of Proximus and its branches in the domain of ICT, professional customers will be supported to become real digital frontrunners. This approach is in line with Proximus' #shifttodigital strategy and its ambition for digital transformation of Belgium, by enabling companies to fully exploit the potential of technology. To reinforce this ambition, a new campaign is also starting today that encourages companies to turn Belgium into a digital hotspot.

Proximus has always played an important role for Belgian businesses. In 2005, facing a growing demand from corporate customers for integrated ICT solutions, the acquisition of Telindus meant an important step in the company’s transformation from a connectivity provider into a leading ICT integrator in Belgium. Today, the industry is at another turning point, as the continuing shift of data and applications to the cloud, shorter development cycles and higher security requirements fuel technological shifts towards software-defined networks and virtualization. Companies therefor need to enhance and leverage their digital capabilities (in AI, cloud, mobile and digital data) to keep up with the new customer expectations and to position themselves against potential new entrants disrupting their business models.

In order to prepare for the future and contribute to the digital economy as trusted partner for the digital transformation of Belgian companies, Proximus not only invests massively in its current and future networks and infrastructure, with the deployment of Fiber and the continuous improvement of its mobile network in anticipation of the advent of 5G. Through the acquisition of several highly specialized companies over the past few years, the Group also developed a broad range of expertise in ICT and innovation, cloud, security, workplace applications, IoT and data analytics. The creation of Proximus Accelerators gathers and centralizes the complementary knowledge of Proximus and its various affiliates, so that customers can experience a fully integrated ICT experience with only one point of contact. More specifically, the Proximus Accelerators are:

Together, these companies have over 2,200 employees in total and are active in 8 countries.

“We see you, Belgium...”: Belgium can do better, and be more digital

We see you, Belgium, moving up the digital ranking - Belgium is 9th in the European digital rankingThe approach of Proximus Accelerators stimulates companies to fully embrace the possibilities of technology. As such, it perfectly fits in the company’s #shifttodigital strategy and incarnates the recently introduced brand promise ‘Think Possible’. Proximus firmly believes it has a role to take on as enabler and facilitator, helping companies unlock the opportunities of digitalization and allowing people to “live better and work smarter”.

Such an evolution is necessary, looking at the performance of Belgium in the European Union’s Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) in recent years. Overall, our country occupies the 9th position in the 2019 edition, compared to a top-5 position three years ago. While Belgium performs well in terms of connectivity and adoption of digital technologies is growing, the report also indicates that “more investment is needed to boost the digitisation of the Belgian economy”.1

Proximus’ ambition to further increase the awareness among Belgian companies on the importance of digitalization, also reflects in a new commercial campaign launched today, with the tagline “We see you, Belgium...”. The campaign is mainly digitally driven (on YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook and Google), with visibility in print magazines as well, and will run until the end of the year.
