Proximus launches new Mobile Kids offering and helps families navigate safe smartphone use

Children today are getting their first smartphone at an increasingly young age. At the same time, parents are becoming more concerned about screen time, online safety, cyberbullying and the impact of digital media on children's well-being. With Mobile Kids, Proximus is launching a new mobile offering within Flex and Flex+ that supports families from that crucial first moment by combining connectivity, protection and education.

With this initiative, Proximus reinforces its role as a digital partner for families and takes another step in its commitment to making the digital world safer and more reliable, especially for children and young people.

More than connectivity: a guided first step

Mobile Kids is designed as a safe and simple first smartphone experience, in which parents stay in control while children gradually develop digital skills. The subscription includes 2 GB of mobile data, 120 call minutes and unlimited texts, enough to stay connected when Wi-Fi is not available. Mobile Kids is available as a second mobile subscription in a Flex or Flex+ pack for €7 per month (including a €5 multi-mobile discount). To avoid unpleasant surprises, extra charges outside the bundle are blocked by default. Parents therefore retain full control and can easily add extra data if needed.

In addition, a comprehensive Kids Protection Pack is included in the offering. This includes parental controls through Norton Family, allowing parents to manage screen time and app usage, educational tips for parents in partnership with Child Focus, and an interactive game in the Proximus+ app that helps children develop digital skills through play.

And because discovering new technology does not only happen in the digital world, the Mobile Kids subscription also includes a free admission ticket to Technopolis or Sparkoh!, the playful and interactive science centers. In this way, Proximus also aims to create a valuable screen-free family moment.

A response to a growing need for guidance

When children get their first smartphone, many parents face the same questions: how can I protect my child from risks such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content or online fraud, while also teaching them to use screen time and digital media in a healthy way?

With Mobile Kids, Proximus is deliberately adopting an approach that goes beyond mere technical control. It combines protection with guidance, enabling families to navigate the digital world together, step by step.

Proximus also observes this need for support through the use of its digital initiatives. That is why the company launched the free interactive platform Smarter Online in 2025, designed to help users better understand and respond to online threats. In recent months, the tool has been further expanded with expertise from organizations such as Child Focus, as users increasingly raised questions about children's smartphone use, screen time, cyberbullying and online safety within families.

A child's first smartphone is an important milestone, but it also raises many questions and uncertainties. With Mobile Kids, we aim not only to connect families, but above all to support them. By combining connectivity with protection, education and tools such as Smarter & safer online with Proximus, we help parents and children find their way in the digital world, step by step and with confidence. And with the free admission ticket to Technopolis or Sparkoh!, we demonstrate that discovering new technology can also be an enjoyable experience in the physical world.
