Speed boost for fiber plans: even faster browsing, gaming, and streaming
As of 1 November, Proximus is increasing the internet speeds of several plans: with both download and upload speeds going up and becoming symmetrical. As a result, customers with fiber will be able to stream, game, and work from home faster than ever before. Thanks to this upgrade, they can count on a high-performance and future-proof internet experience.
Whether at home or at work, internet access has become an essential part of everyday life. Belgians are using their internet connections more intensively than ever before. Applications such as cloud storage, video calls, streaming, and gaming require not only ever-higher download speeds, but strong upload speeds too. That is why Proximus is increasing the maximum speeds of several fiber plans so that customers can continue to count on a reliable, high-quality connection.
What will actually change?
- Internet Go Fiber will have maximum download/upload speeds of 250/250 Mbps up from 150/30 Mbps
- Internet Mega Fiber will have maximum download/upload speeds of 600/600 Mbps up from 500/100 Mbps
- Internet Giga Fiber will have maximum download/upload speeds of 2/2 Gbps up from 2 Gbps/200 Mbps
Customers whose internet is part of a Flex+ Mega Fiber pack will also benefit from higher speeds. Their maximum download/upload speeds will increase to 600/600 Mbps, up from 500/500 Mbps.
The power of symmetrical speeds
Notably, it's not just the download speeds that are increasing; upload speeds are getting a significant boost too, reaching the highest upload speeds on the Belgian market.
As a result, download and upload speeds will now be identical for these plans. Such symmetrical download and upload speeds are more important than ever. Download speed determines how quickly data is transferred from the internet to a device, for example when streaming a movie or downloading large files. Upload speed determines how long it takes to transfer data from a device to the internet, for example when using cloud storage or sending large files. Popular activities such as gaming and video calls require high download and upload speeds. By making the two speeds symmetrical, Proximus continues to meet its customers' digital needs and offers them a superior internet experience fully tailored to their needs.
Speed boost for both residential and business customers
Self-employed customers and small businesses will also benefit from this speed boost. Their internet speeds will increase to the same levels as residential fiber plans, or even higher:
- Business Internet Go Fiber will have maximum download/upload speeds of 250/250 Mbps up from 150/30 Mbps
- Business Internet Mega Fiber will have maximum download/upload speeds of 600/600 Mbps up from 500/250 Mbps
- Business Internet Giga Fiber will have maximum download/upload speeds of 2.5/2.5 Gbps up from 2.5 Gbps/500 Mbps
Business customers with a Business Flex+ Mega Fiber pack will also get to enjoy higher speeds. Their maximum download/upload speeds will increase to 600/600 Mbps up from 500/500 Mbps.
Over the coming weeks, all customers with these plans will gradually and automatically be upgraded to the new speeds. No action is required on their part: they will automatically benefit from the speed boost.
New customers who sign up for one of these plans from November onwards will immediately benefit from the new internet speeds.
